Moving out of state from the North Shore
North Shore moves often involve larger houses and more to pack: finished basements, attics and garages. Since long-distance moves are priced largely by weight, the sorting you do before the survey directly lowers the bill.
Many of these homes have also been in the family a long time. Plan extra time for fragile pieces and anything that needs custom crating, and tell us about them early.
Truck access on tree-lined streets
A full-size moving truck needs clearance. Low branches, tight corners, private drives and weight-restricted streets can all stop one short of the door. When that happens, a smaller shuttle truck may carry goods between the house and the larger truck.
We ask about your street during the survey. Shuttle charges should be discussed up front and appear in your paperwork, not arrive as a surprise. Some towns and homeowner associations also have their own rules about large trucks and street parking, so check with yours early.
Common destinations
North Shore households move to the same places much of Chicagoland does: Florida, especially the Gulf Coast, along with Arizona, California and Colorado.
Trucks generally reach these routes by the Edens (I-94) or the Tri-State (I-294).
