Suburban delivery usually means easy access. Inner Loop townhomes with tight parking can be harder, so give us the exact address. See Chicago to Texas to compare other Texas destinations.
Delivery around Houston
- Suburbs. The Woodlands, Katy, Sugar Land and Cypress are mostly easy for trucks, though many homes are in HOA communities with rules on parking and timing.
- Inner Loop. Townhomes in the Heights, Montrose and Midtown can have narrow streets, shared driveways and three-story layouts with no elevator.
- Traffic. I-45, I-10 and the 610 Loop can be slow at rush hour, so plan around arrival windows.
Heat, humidity and storms
Houston is hot and humid for much of the year. Unload early and keep the air conditioning running, since Chicago furniture will absorb moisture. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and heavy rain can flood streets at any time. Leave flexibility in your date and keep important documents with you.
Texas has no state income tax, but property taxes and insurance can be higher than you might expect. Our moving to Texas guide has more on this.
